IGN takes on the 14 greatest rock operas/concept albums. Ok, first of all, who does the 14 best anything? Fourteen? Were they shooting for 20 and couldn't think of any more than 14 or doing a top 10 and didn't have the heart to cut any of them?

And here's their list...
14. Green Day - American Idiot
13. The Coolies - Doug
12. Paul Kantner - Blows Against The Empire
11. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
10. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
9. The Goats - Tricks of the Shade
8. Harry Nilsson - The Point
7. Pretty Things - SF Sorrow
6. Mike Watt - Contemplating the Engine Room
5. Willie Nelson - Red Headed Stranger
4. Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage I, II, and III
3. Pink Floyd - The Wall
2. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
1. The Who - Quadrophenia
Ok, so there are a couple of really good CDs on that list, but I think I can make a better top ten out of the ones not on that list. How about these off the top of my head?
10. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois/Michigan
9. Drive-By Truckers - Southern Rock Opera
8. Frank Sinatra - In The Wee Small Hours
7. Prince - Sign O The Times
6. Brian Wilson/Beach Boys - Pet Sounds/Smile
5. Springsteen - the trilogy of Born To Run/Darkness/The River (or The Ghost of Tom Joad... or Nebraska)
4. Radiohead - OK Computer
3. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
2. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper
1. The Who - Tommy
And if you don't think one of these should be included, then take it off and put Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything in it's place...
So what other great concept albums & rock operas am I missing?
